Work: Photography I am a photojournalist, documentary photographer and publisher with more than 30 years of experience. My work focuses on breaking news, public life, social movements, conflict, music and the communities often overlooked by larger media organizations. I founded The Bloomingtonian in 2019 to provide independent visual journalism and local reporting in Bloomington, Indiana. My broader archive documents American subcultures, politics, war, working people and everyday life, including reporting from Ukraine and decades spent photographing the punk and independent music communities. I am driven by the belief that photographs should serve as both immediate journalism and a lasting historical record.

An interior view looks through an open white doorway with glass panes into an adjacent room. In the foreground, the doorway is slightly ajar, revealing a dark room to the left. Through the doorway, a brightly lit room is visible, featuring a sofa covered with a checkered purple and blue blanket. Above the sofa, a large tapestry depicting two tigers hangs on the wall. A window with sheer curtains is visible to the right, letting in natural light. A dark, ornate light fixture hangs from the ceiling, and a small, dark framed object is on the wall above the tapestry. Green foliage is visible through the glass panes of the doorway, suggesting a plant or outdoor view. Photographed by Jeremy Hogan.

Below, a light-colored building with a prominent portico of four white fluted columns and Corinthian capitals is visible on the left. To the right, another multi-story building with a distinctive octagonal tower topped by a cupola and arched windows rises. Numerous overhead wires crisscross the frame against a light, overcast sky. Pedestrians wait at a crosswalk with a red traffic light in front of a large building featuring a Soviet-era bas-relief in Belarus. The bas-relief depicts numerous figures, possibly representing workers or collective heroes, in a dynamic composition. Below the relief, a building entrance with large windows displays mannequins. A group of men, some carrying briefcases, stands on the curb, while other pedestrians are visible on the sidewalk and in the background. A street lamp with a 'yield' sign is prominent on the right. The scene captures a moment of daily life against a backdrop of monumental Soviet-era art and architecture. Photographed by Jeremy Hogan.
